IIci/si ROM SIMM Slot

I have a ROM SIMM slot on my IIsi and IIci. Is there any way I can utilize this to improve performance? I.e. use it to load additional memory, or cache memory from a cache stick (I have a couple of those from AST PCs.) The answer is probably no, from what I've heard, though, but it's worth aski
