Bryan, the IIsi was notorious for it's inconsistent sound quality or lack of sound for that matter. The best way to fix it was to ignore the built-in speaker and just use external ones. I bought a cheap pair ($10) for mine, plugged it into the head phone jacks on the back and the sound was fine

I tried to set up a couple of IIsi Macs as word processors, but 4 out of 5 had problems. On 3 of them the power circuit does not work: the Mac turns on as soon as you plug it in, and does not turn off when you Shut Down. I know about the always-on switch and it was in the out position. Anothe
