Yup, that's it. I was just following "standard
procedure" like every other CD-ROM drive in the
world but Pioneer had to go and make things
difficult
I remembered that http://www.archive.org has a
"Wayback Machine" where you can enter a URL of
an old or missing website and if they've archived
it you can see it.
They happen to have three copies of
http://www.pioneerservice.com/downloads/documentation/selftest.htm
