I'm using an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1, and I got a second-hand Refreshabraille
a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes it connects to my phone fine, but sometimes it
doesn't. When it doesn't and I go to Braille settings, I'm told it is
connected. Sometimes when I try to connect, I get an error
It could be at one time that you chose not to have Messages be in your
Notification Center. If so, then it will be under the Not in
Notification Center heading, or something like that, toward the
bottom of the screen.

It's horrible only if background app refresh is turned on as for some
reason location services are used when they shouldn't be. It's this
location services feature that uses the most power. Turning this off
solves the problem. You only need background app refresh if you're using

I have a 5S and I don't see that much more of a battery drain. A little
perhaps but not enough to worry about. I notice, of course, that using SIRI
does drain the battery much faster but it was always that way.

Try turning the rotor to punctuations, flick to you hear all, some or none.
Some will only announce some punctuations mainly those at the end of a
sentence.

Actually, hitting the sleep/wake button a few times to restart the phone isn't
a good idea. I've heard it can actually messed things up in terms of iOS.
You're basically just making your phone crash when you do this. A better way to
restart would be to power off the phone, then power it back
of you who have one think its worth purchasing

Hello. I recently helped someone get a refresher braille working with iOS 7.1
and an iPhone 4S. We had some initial trouble getting it repaired. The solution
was to completely power off the display and power off the phone. Then once we
did Howard the phone on and went into the braille settings,
In my particular case, drop box was causing background refresh to keep the GPS
receiver in the active state. Once I removed drop box's ability of background
refresh, the problem cleared up.
