trouble getting Refreshabraille to connect

Hi, I'm using an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1, and I got a second-hand Refreshabraille a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes it connects to my phone fine, but sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't and I go to Braille settings, I'm told it is connected. Sometimes when I try to connect, I get an error

It's horrible only if background app refresh is turned on as for some reason location services are used when they shouldn't be. It's this location services feature that uses the most power. Turning this off solves the problem. You only need background app refresh if you're using location-based

There isn't any differences in battery life with 7.1 verses previous versions that I have noticed and I have an iPhone 4, an iPhone 5s and a iPad Air. On my iPad Air they say it gets 10.5 hours use. I can get slightly better then that but I suspect that's just my Air and how I use it rather

I've occasionally had this problem. I just do a quick restart by tapping th epower button several times. That seems to get it. I've generally attributed it to going back and forth between several displays. The RB doesn't like that much. I never have a problem if it was the display last used. On

Actually, hitting the sleep/wake button a few times to restart the phone isn't a good idea. I've heard it can actually messed things up in terms of iOS. You're basically just making your phone crash when you do this. A better way to restart would be to power off the phone, then power it back
