Hi Janet, Seeing AI has a Light Detector item in its menu and it works well. You flick right till you are on the menu and then flick up through menu options till you come to the light detector. Sorry the Light detector app isn't working. I have used it a few days ago and it still worked for me.

Your friend can find out if he has the SE first or second gen by doing the following: 1. Go into settings. 2. Go to general. 3. Go to about and he can find the information there. If he has the first gen he needs to hold the home button and the sleep/wake button together for about 10 seconds.
