Oh ok, I didn't know that. This could be why I felt like I was: fighting with
the app. Not understanding that in basic form, inbox is trying to create the
filters for me automatically rather than me customising them myself.
Would you say this is correct thinking on my part?

When you create a bundle, you are pretty much creating a filter. All
e-mails from your inbox get bundled into this bundle that you choose, as it
learns, over time, what types of e-mails you want to include.
