You can use Safari to shop on the Audible site on your device, or any web
browser you choose on your device or computer.
If you think you will be buying at least 12 books over the next 12 months, then
you may want to look at the Gold membership, and if you think you will do 24

Yes, or you can also purchase on amazon.com
I don’t believe you have to take out a subscription however, I am pretty sure
you can just buy individual books. You do however have to pay for some sort
