Unfortunately, recalibrating did not work on my iPhone 5. I had to take
advantage of the free battery replacement program, offered by Apple, which,
allegedly, has been extended through some time in 2016. For more
information about this program, including a way to check your serial number
to see if your phone qualifies, go to the following link.
https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/
If that link does not work, do a google search for "iPhone 5 battery
replacement", which should find the link to the Apple support web site which
discusses this matter.

In the mean time, you might try recalibrating your iPhone 5's battery
sensor by completely running down the phone, plugging it in, turning it
on and letting it fully charge. You may need to do this a time or two.

I have an iPhone 5 running IOS 7. I love the IOS 7 and would never
upgrade but I will probably get an iPhone 6 because the 5 is having a
few problems such as totally shutting down unexpectedly with no warning
when battery is still well above the 20%. Also earphone problems.
My question is will I be able to use the restore function in iTunes to
put my IOS 7 backup onto the 6 running IOS 8?
I plan to keep the 5 for a backup and do not want to upgrade it to IOS
8 before backing it up as the 5 does everything I want right now.
Too bad it is having issues. I am still trying to decide if the fact
that only old wired earphones with no mic will work on the 5 for now is
bothersome enough to justify upgrading to a 6. Since I constantly listen
to BARD books this is a biggie. And yes, I have tested numerous wired
earphones with mic and they work in other gadgets and not in my 5. By
not work I mean no sound at all. For the last two years the Apple
earpods would not produce any sound but I ordered Samsung ones that
worked fine. Now they won’t produce any sound either. Reduced to using
old earbuds that require me to constantly remove the phone from my
pocket to do all the things I formerly did with the mic buttons.
I have a Juice pack case for the 5 and as long as I remember to give the
phone a charge before it gets anywhere near low it seems not to shut down.
I wanted a 5S but the salesman at Verizon said they do not come in 64 G
any more and I don’t think I could get by with 32 G. So it will have to
be a 6 I guess.
So back to my original question:
Will an IOS 7 backup restore onto an IOS 8 phone?
Question 2
If I did go to a 32 G model would I have to set it up from scratch since
my iPhone 5 backup has at least 45-50 G of content?
Thanks in advance,
Sherrie Gosling
