No, those are the two recommended procedures for turning off and rebooting the
iPhone. I was responding to the method described in the message below my

Apple, and is the only procedure which has caused data corruption on my iPhone.

I often come across listers suggesting to others ways of restarting their
iDevice in the event of a problem including using the power button and the
Home button which seems extreme, so I thought I would post the proper way of
doing so as suggested by Apple:

That method is not recommended, either. It's like pressing the reset button on
your computer. It's best to use the first method described, and if it doesn't
work, try the others as a last resort.
