I doubt you can go wrong with AAC, but I still prefer something ubiquitous like MP3 or avoid proprietary formats altogether with OGG or FLAC. At times, I've had my music library or parts of it on phones running symbian, Android, Windows Mobile and Windows Phone. I've had it on portable media
