As Katja pointed out, it seemed that the problem was that her router had no internet connection. I have experienced this before where if that happened I would delete a message and next thing it was back. If you are using a protocol like IMAP or Exchange Active Sync where the mail clients syncs

Messages can't be moved to trash on iPhone

This is the first time I've encountered anything like this: I hit the edit button and select the ones I want to delete, and when I hit moved to trash, get the message that they cannot be moved. I had to reboot the iPhone in order to get it to work the first time this happened. This is an iPhone
