Ok try this.
When the page appears in your browser, click the view in iTunes link.
On my end iTunes opens to the app's page in the app store.
This is with iTunes 11, Nvda 2013.1 Beta on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

I'm curious about others' experience downloading apps with iTunes 11. I just
went to MamaPeach's LyricWiki link in her email. On that page, there was a
link to open LyricWiki in iTunes. When I clicked on that link, iTunes did in
fact open but it was displaying my music library, not the iTunes Store
