Same here. Don't care much for Alex. I've tried other voices, but at 100%
speech rate, I have yet to feel comfortable with a voice that can maintain
pronunciation accuracy like good and plain old Samantha. Even Samantha enhanced
sounds choppy and distorted to me.
For Spanish,
English Julie voice is from NeoSpeech.

Frankly I wish we had more from which to choose. There are some voices in the
VoiceDream reader app which I wish I could use as system wide voices even if I
had to pay a fee for them as long as it was account specific not device

Well, Samantha sounds like a smoker to me, and enhanced has funny little
contextual issues with tone where normal Samantha to me is good. I use
Alex, though the artificial "breathing" is extremely annoying, he can go
faster with accuracy than about all other voices, though he is 800K
If you don’t have a lot of memory, or prefer voices like Eloquence, then you
may like Fred. He doesn’t even have to be downloaded.

As Alan said, it's highly subjective, I tried the Alex TTS from time to time

preference is so subjective and usually generates a lot of opinion expression.

I to use Alex. I find that voice to be the most accurate. The only problem is
that if you are limited as to memory space he does take up quite a bit of
memory. I have enough memory for my phone that I don’t worry about such things.
If you have a very limited memory I don’t think that Alex would
he default option with computer
choices. I use Samantha enhanced at 60% speed on my iPhone 8 and I make sure I
add a custom pronunciation whenever she speaks a word or name incorrectly. I do
try other voices from time to time but find I always return to Samantha
enhanced.

I use Alex. I like his intonation, his accurate understanding of clauses in
paragraphs, and his pronunciation is fairly well unless you’re reading Asian
names or more fantasy books. It could be better, but his natural intonation is
what I like most. I use him around 65% rate.
