NO you won't need to subscribe on both devices. You can have all of this synced
between devices at a pretty granular level, Ie, you can sync, episodes,
podcasts, playlists and settings independently.

I know there are various Downcast settings regarding iCloud and help info that

sync podcasts and episodes via iCloud and t
I haven't double checked any of my iCloud settings yet but my iPhone and iPad
do not sync with each other.
I have different podcasts on each.
