You are correct if you are closing the message and then trying to delete it
with a 1 finger swipe up.
If you double tap the delete button while the message is open it deletes it.
That is the delete button at the bottom of the screen.

Hi everyone,
I have a question. It lets me delete emails from the app when I am looking at
my inbox. However, when I put in the search term to find a specific email and
then when I’m done with it I tell it delete it, it doesn’t delete it. Anyone
else experiencing this? Is this a bug?
