Everytime I open the health app, it shows me how many steps I've walked and
the daily and weekly average. I never realized that just being in the house
and not going anywhere I can average 2 thousand steps in a day not counting

I wonder if one has to measure one's stride and somehow enter it. This is

Hi Jenifer, the ability to count steps is built into the phone, and doesn't
require an Internet connection to work. Happy cruising!
