Hit that twice quickly and you have the app switcher.
You should be able to then do an up arrow or options up arrow to close the
app

Yeah there seem to be at least two other ways to activate the home button. And
they’re on different parts of the keyboard.

That’s odd, I only saw a few key instructions using just the options key. I
guess I’ll look again. Maybe the document for some odd reason got cut off when
I downloaded it. Not sure why I didn’t see them. I thought I had gotten to the
bottom of your document. Ended with a vertical scrollbar say i
