Yes I am using 9.3.1. I don't know why, but it just seems really slow at times.
It works a little better on my new iPad Pro than it does on my phone or so it
seems. I have a 6 s plus.

Are you using iOS 9.3.1?
While I have not connected a U2, I have connected the Braille Edge and the
braille seemed far improved from previous iOS versions.
