I would recommend a fourth or fifth generation watch as well because it will be
updated longer. However, VoiceoVer works very well on the third gen as well, so
if you get a really good deal, it could be a nice way to find out if you like
the watch without spending as much money.

If you can get a 4th gen or 5th gen, VoiceOver will run much better on
those than the older generations. VoiceOver was very sluggish on my
second generation, and I upgraded to a forth generation. You may be
able to find some from folks on Facebook or eBay, or used on Amazon.

I am not sure the 4th generation watch is readily available. It was roomered
that Apple was not going to sell the 4th gen after the 5th gen was released.
They did the same with the 2nd generation watch after the 3rd gen was released.

built-in compass and the ability to remain on all the time so a sighted person
can look at the time without waking the watch.
