You should check it, if you encrypt your backup it will also backup passwords and such which otherwise will not get backed up. Keep in mind that as soon as you check it you will be asked to enter a password and then to confirm it. Make sure you use a password you can remember because if you ever want to restore from an encrypted backup and you forgot the password you are out of luck and your encrypted backup will be about as useful as no backup. As far as I am concerned the password for the encrypted backup does not need to be quite as long, random and difficult as say the password I use for my online banking since first of all somebody could only do anything if they had access to the computer where the encrypted backup is stored. Then they need to know you have an encrypted backup and sufficient motivation to try and access the data contained in the backup. I think even a simple 4-digit PIN would be perfectly fine, maybe not your birth year or day and month of your birthdate or the last 4 digits of your phone number, but there are plenty of options you probably can remember.

Hi, list. I have iPhone8 with iOS12.4 Using iTune, when I try to back up the phone, I find a check box says Encrypt local backup and it is not checked. Should I check or leave it unchecked?
