Use Walklog, it’s much more accurate as it uses GPS. You can also just check
the Health app, it does keep track of steps walked.

I have used run keeper and thought it was pretty helpful. To be honest I have
not tried it in several months so I can't say if it is still fully accessible.
It did do a good job of calculating how far I've walked when I was using it
last summer.

You could use Pedometer++ It doesn’t use GPS and doesn’t drain the battery in
the slightest, and best of all it’s free. If you want to support the developer
you can donate or tip I can’t remember which. It is not mandatory as you get
all of the functions in the free version.
