The Kindle app can't read images. I understand there are some magazines that
offer images of the pages, but you can read a text alternative instead.
Sometimes I guess it can happen with books, where they just take a picture of
the page. ' definitely ask for a refund.

I believe you can get a sample chapter before buying the book.
I would also strongly recommend you call Amazon and ask for a refund.
If they don't have a phone number any longer, certainly Email them.
