It can detect LEDs if you know where they are and can place the camera
lens properly. I use light detector to figure out basic settings on our
washer and dryer. IMHO, the app used to be more responsive to light
changes but for some reason, it's gone a step back since it's latest

Light Detector works well and it would probably work for what you want, but
in the end you would have to try it. It's definitely an app worth having if
you are completely blind and it's only 99 Cents, so I recommend getting it.
