subscribe to Popular Mechanics.
The app is free and is accessible, and you can buy a single issue to test
it out.

I don't know about Reader's Digest in the Newsstand app, or any other
publication in that app for that matter. However, Reader's Digest is
available through the NFB Newsline app for free, so you might want to check
that out.
