hospital having had a stroke and I don’t want to miss any calls.

Hi Malcom,
Somehow, you have Do Not Disturb turned on.
At least, in my testing just now, since our landline is I my contacts, if Do
Not Disturb is on, I hear the ringtone once, then it goes silent.
If I turn off Do Not Disturb, it rings normally.
I hope that is the answer.
