Thanks for your suggestion, Chris. This is unbelievable! I plug the Apple
earbuds in, and it worked. I took them out, had someone call me, and now the
phone works fine! I'm not sure why it worked but it fixed the issue! Very happy!

Does it work fine with the apple earbuds? My first thought is something
to do with the mic connection somewhere. Another thing I've seen before
is audio not working at the very beginning of calls. This was an issue
I had a long time ago, though, with a 3gs.

My carrier is A T and T. I never had this problem with the iPhone 4. I hope
it isn't the carrier either.

You received this me
When I make or receive a phone call, the person I am talking with
cannot hear me unless I put the phone on speaker phone. I am beginning
to think it's a hardware issue, but still hoping for some type of a
solution.

My carrier is AT&T as well, so I'm kind of curious what strange behavior
we're talking about here. I can't tell at all from this message.

Yes. I have rebooted the phone a couple of times. I am afraid that it is a
hardware issue, but just hoping that it isn't.

I have this problem once in a while with my 5. The difference is that I
can't do anything including your solution to make it right so I have to
terminate the call and re-initiate it. May I ask what carrier you have?
I'm hoping it has nothing to do with a specific carrier.
