WIFI Assist switches your phone to cellular if your WIFI signal is weak.
If you have unlimited data it may not impact you.
If you have a limited amount of data, if WIFI Assist is on, you could be using
up cellular data and not realize it.

It is probably what SIRI inserted when somebody dictated "WiFi Assist", it is a
setting under Cellular which, if turned on which I believe it is by default,
will use cellular data if WiFi connectivity is poor.
