I found that the reset button will sometimes work with the I devices if the
AirPods go disconnect.
Also, if you open the case and, press the button, you can pair them with the VR
Trek however, the volume on the Trek is so low that they are almost unusable.

The button on the back is for when you want to pair the airpods with an older
Apple device or any non-Apple device. Put both airpods in the case, close it,
and press the button for a few seconds. Then you can pair it as you would any
other bluetooth device.
