The other issue with MapQuest is that you need to have a data connection.
Navigon works when your cell connection is nonexistent or less than 3g.

to be fair, Mapquest only works for people in the United States.
So that is one thing that many other apps provide that Mapquest does not, IE,
maps for other countries.

I agree with Richard's endorsement of MapQuest. Has anyone found
features in the other mainstream apps mentioned here that MapQuest
doesn't contain or that MapQuest doesn't implement as well as its
competitors?

I think motion x's instructions are also the most detailed, and I like the
fact that you can always getthe current instruction spoken. Actually, the
garmin app will do this too, but I think motion x's instructions are a bit
better. Also, with motion x, you don'
Same in australia too i think. does apple give turn by turn
directions as you walk? I'd never gotten this to work. How does
it compare to navigon?

I like navigon. I'm in chustralia. But there's just one thing
that really bugs me. I have it in walking mode, but I'm still
told to take the second exct on the round about etc.
it's frustrating and annoying.

As far as i can remember, and i could be wrong here, but Navigon now lets

I'd give Navigon my vote simply because none of the other apps except Tomtom is
available and in Motionx Gps-drives case probably never will be available
outside the anglocentric world. I'd be curious to know what other scandinavian
folks and also others outside the world according to the Unite

I personally like MapQuest.
It provides both walking and driving spoken directions. It is free. And it's
not that hard to figure out.

Ya, I'm actually thinking of doing an updated pod cast comparing the GPS apps
on IOS. This is actually much easier on Android, google navigation works well
on that platform, actually I have not tried Apple maps yet, but I don't think
it provides instructions in walk mode.

Hi, I've had the best luck with Navigon, although it's been a while
since I've tried MotionX GPS. The last time I used it I felt that it's
user interface was a bit clunky. For car traveling though, I use Waze
gps. it's a social GPS, but provides very good instructions. Not meant

Motion X GPS Drive gets my vote. It's been extremely accurate for me in
vehicle routes, and I love the ability to add a stop to an existing route.
Your podcast actually sold me on the app.
