Keith,
Flicktype doesn't involve sliding. You just tap approximately where you think
the letters are and flick right and if that isn't the word you wanted, flick
down to see what other suggestions it has.
Thomas donville has done a good podcast on the slide-to-type for VoiceOver
users.

Thank you very much for that. I will have to try it. I liked
touch typing mode. Hearing so many letters is like hearing
numbers while you are trying to dial one, or remember one. I
begin to forget where I was and what I was saying.

What I like about slide to type is that it's just there, all I have to do is
hold for a second on a letter and I can
