About 6 months ago my Apple earpods just stopped working completely on my

Try this. Hold down the power button and the home key for ten seconds. It's a
restart and will not effect any of your settings, apps, etc. You've got
nothing to lose and it might work.

If other similar type headsets have the same issue, I would say your only
real choices are to try a complete phone reset after having performed a
backup of course, or taking it into an Apple Store as it's possible that the
headphone jack could be defective. JMO.

sometimes turns off VoiceOver. It has turned it off every time for me,
