After you enter your passcode, can you hold down home and get anything?
Go into settings and Siri, and make sure it didn't get turned off, and also
that it is set to work on the lock screen.
If it is on hold the home button down for a couple seconds and ask Siri a
question that would involve mor
No chime when holding down home...just starts VO saying I need to enter

The tripple press of the home key is a toggle for voice over. So if it's
off doing that will turn it on and the same for turning it back on. I
didn't think about the two three finger tap for muting and unmuting

I got SE to do the click and clack thing and as it was active, I did
what you suggested. It sounds like VO is back, but Siri will still not
talk to me.

Then I tried the home key 3 times...no words, but some clicks and clacks

Nancy,
Try double tapping with 3 fingers on the right side of the phone. I tried
doing that and it said speech off since I had the speech on. I tapped again
and speech came back on.
HTH.

Do you hear clicks as you move around the screen? You may have muted Voice

Check your volume by moving your finger around on the screen and turning
it up on the side using the buttons. I say move around on the screen
because that would make VO talk and you'll be controlling the media
volume instead of the ringer volume. Nine times out of ten this is what
happens when
