Anna's method works the best. We have 4 products for two people. I don't want her contacts or email so having the same Apple ID makes it possible to not have to buy more than one copy of an app but having a separate ICloud account makes it possible for her to sink data between her phone and IPad

Create separate accounts. I never encourage anyone to share accounts, for exactly that reason. No one wants to have the same contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks and passwords, Passbook passes, and more. Sure, you can't share apps, but I'd rather buy my own apps than deal with having all
