I never meant to imply that Siri asking me which number to call was a bug or a
problem. It's just a change that I've noticed lately. I used to always wonder
why Siri would just place the call without confirming which number to call.

Not true at all. These days it doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe
it did pre-iOS 6 though when phone numbers and/or email addresses
associated with an Apple Id were independent of each other. As of iOS 6
to the present they can be linked together.

I do have my brother as a contact, with both a number for home and one
designated as iPhone. When I tell Siri "call my brother" she always
defaults to the iPhone number, which I suppose makes sense.
