I think this is a bug that was addressed in 17.01 or possibly 17.02.
You may have to make sure both phones are up to at least release before this
works correctly

And it stayed stuck in update mode. And she ended up googling around, and found
out that it was a known issue with Apple. But I don't know if she ended up

Also, the couple of times I've done this, you can keep swiping to get to a
manual option for doing a phone to phone transfer and you'll be sent a code on
one phone to input into the other phone. I always prefer doing this transfer
manually.

Exactly what I was going to say: do the manual option; it hasn't failed over
the 2 or 3 transfers I've gone through over the years. Good luck!

You have to have the camera of one facing the screen of the other one. It has
been two years since I did this, so I'm not sure if the new phone camera needs
to see the screen of the old one or the other way around.

I'm trying to set up my new phone. I'm at the point where it says to bring the
phones close together. They are... but my new phone isn't seeing the old one.
