It kind of depends which operating system you're using. Try double-tapping the popup button, and checking the bottom of your screen. It's a little easier to do this with your finger, but you can use the keyboard. You should run into something that says "picker" with a choice selected. If you don't, you'll have to show your software keyboard using whichever keystroke does this on your keyboard. I've heard control-f5 works for some. For me it's f3. It varies with third-party keyboards. Flick up and down to pick an item, then press the done button just above the picker.
