I thought not. So for all who wants Whatsapp you are basically out of
luck until you have a phone with active cellular service. Still there's
other options out there, including Apple's own iMessage and
FaceTime/FaceTime Audio.

I don't think so as Whatsapp requires a phone number for registration. I
tried on an iPod Touch 4 and at the time it just would not install even
though it was downloaded to my computer back in the day.
