I just created my Apple ID from my iPhone. I had trouble doing it when trying to make my first download from the App Store, but I was able to do it successfully from Settings -> Store and then clicking on the Apple ID button. Since I did this right after I got my iPhone, answering all of the questions was kind of tedious, but now that I'm a better typer on my iPhone, it wouldn't be as bad if I had to do it all over again.
