iPhone not backing up to iCloud

iPhone5 with IOS 7.1.2 does not back up to iCloud. Says 5Gb is available and it says 236Mb is required to back up. This is strange because the only thing that is selected to back up is contacts. Camera roll, mail, reminders and app data is disabled to back up. I am stumbled. I have already done
