I do not know what he is doing to not have other apps announced, but he may
want to check the settings for describe images and screen recognition. Also,
14.5.1 is the latest build.

A friend of mine has an iPhone SE 2020 running the latest iOS 14.4.
If he places his finger on the screen and moves left, right, up or down
Voiceover does not announce the apps as he moves through them although the
iPhone does make the click and provide haptic feedback as expected.
The only way
Look in settings and see if you can change it there.

Check to see if your mute switch is switch on. If not, check the “sound and
haptics
Sounds like you have your mute switch set on mute. Flick the switch to the
other position and the ringer and alert sounds will play. You'll find the
mute switch near the volume buttons on the side of your phone.

Check to see if your mute switch is switch on. If not, check the “sound and
haptics” section of settings, to see if your volume is low.

Hello:
My new SE 2020 doesn't ring when a call comes in. It just verbally announces
an incoming call. Also, announced incoming text messages are announced
verbally and not with the initial notifying ding. How do I change these issues
to have the ring tone for calls and ding for text messages.
