It was a genuine update because it happened when I opened the whatsapp. That’s
why I decided to do it. But I did it from the app store.

Hi,
I had that type of notice with the Ten Percent Happier app a week or two ago,
so it's definitely still possible to get a notice that an update is available
when you open an app.

Triple-tap the App Store icon, and choose Updates. That will open the App Store
on your account page. Touch the middle of the screen and flick down with 3
fingers to refresh the page so all updates will be available.
