Re: iPad as a Productivity Tool

2021-08-26 Thread Mary Otten
I haven’t had an iPad in a long time. I think having one with a Bluetooth
keyboard would be good if it has gotten better with Accessibility. For example,
as far as I know, there is no good way to deal with anything but a very
rudimentary PDF document on Apple products.. Got links. Nothing. Have to read a
table? Can’t do it. I don’t know how word and XL would work, but I sure
wouldn’t do it without a keyboard. I thought Apple had instituted some kind of
find future equivalent to what we’ve been able to do in windows for years with
screen readers. But I might be wrong. I thought they had done it for the Mac
with voiceover but that would’ve carried over to the iPad. But since my only
Apple products these days are an iPhone and watch, I’m not in a position to
make definitive statements.

RE: iPad as a Productivity Tool

2021-08-26 Thread Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND
Hi Joe,

I do have an iPad and enjoy it, but there are still some things I find much
easier to do on a PC.

You can navigate by headings in a browser, but I know of no way to do this
without using the rotor.

I also am a heavy user of the Find feature with JAWS on web pages and am not
aware of an equivalent in IOS. I would love to be proven wrong on this.

I also need to use Excel and Word quite a lot, which I find much easier on the
PC.

So it really depends on what you want to use it for, in my opinion.

Pam

Subject: iPad as a Productivity Tool

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help educate me on the practical use of an
iPad, a topic I know comes up routinely on the list. I have an iPhone,
understand the benefits of iOS and the great progress of Voiceover.
I'm still on the hunt for a productive tablet though and wonder if the
iPad has improved in the past couple years, understanding of course
that "improvement" is purely subjective.

First, have we made any progress with web browsing on iOS? That is to
say, with a Bluetooth keyboard, have we improved the ability to do
things like jump from heading to heading or navigate by paragraph
without using the roter?

Second, regarding document editing, is Ulysses still the best editing
app out there? I'm looking for something to integrate well with
Dropbox and is able to accept Markup language. I'd rather pay a lump
sum as opposed to a subscription plan, but if Ulysses is still the
best bet, I'd be curious to know this.

Yes, I am guilty of wanting to see some of the JAWS ease of use on
iOS, which I know is not possible or fair. Still, I am a creature of
habit, and if my only recourse is to circle back to PC tablet options,
I'll do so. The iPad is always back there in the back of my mind, and
if you've picked it up as your tool of productivity, I'd love to hear
from you.

Thank you kindly in advance,

Joe

Re: iPad as a Productivity Tool

2021-08-26 Thread Anthony Vece
Hi Joe; I’ve been using iOS products and Mac products since 2015. I’ve never
went back to windows for any reason. Just pick up the iOS and Mac products and
don’t look back. When I want to edit an app I bring it into notes. I do it by
hand. And you certainly can jump from heading to heading with a Bluetooth
keyboard. Hope this helps. Anthony
