Ok, checking back on the old mails, so this is the floating point
issue.. was thinking maybe the defaults were already changed to G_FLOAT.
Well, recompiling..

Did configure with all default values, and now compile dies on the
chmod
Ok, my screwup again, did realclean and now seems woeking.

Craig,
thanks for the info.
If I create FOO.BAR to those empty directories, would then chmod succeed?

All directories do exist. Tried twiddling the protections but no help.

Compile fails:

Writing Descrip.MMS for attrs

Hi again,
now I've been running "mmk test" as a batch job, and it seems always
to get stuck to this test

I've run the job 3 times and happens everytime. Now the last try
has been running for 24 hours and the process is just hibernating,
no increase on CPU time.

Hi,
I applied the patch to ext/Digest/MD5/Makefile.PL, and added missing
')' to line 13, and at least now MD5 compiles succesfully.
--Saku
Went back to a 4000/200 running OpenVMS 7.2 and older C-compiler to
see if Perl 5.8.2 compiles there. After tuning the system parameters,
everything went fine with default @CONFIGURE settings, adding flag
/FLOAT=G_FLOAT.
Everything is up to date. 'MMK test' to run test suite.

Tried to compile 5.8.2 with VMS debugging, just to experiment, but
now compile fails:
Making Digest/MD5 (dynamic)
Writing Descrip.MMS for Digest::MD5
cp md5.pm [---.lib.digest]md5.pm
MCR [---]miniperl.exe "-I[---.lib]" "-I[---.lib]" -e "use

Craig,
thank you very much for your explanation. It's really valuable for a

Ok here's the "mmk test" log for 5.8.2 on a VAX and /FLOAT=G_FLOAT flag,
other values CONFIGURE defaults.
I had to increase VIRTUALPAGECNT and PQFLQUOTA to 20 for successfull
compile on a 4000/600A with 64MB ram.

Ok, seems that adding the /FLOAT=G_FLOAT to the flags somehow increased the
memory allocation requirements. Now I've increased the limits and rebuild
is under way.
--Saku
Now for some reason it seems I'm unable to do a rebuild.
Deleted the original source tree and extracted again from .tar
