I'm using vnc to remotely administer a humanitas site.
I'm working over a connection via a two network servers:

Occasionally on one of the machines that I use VNC on (Windows NT 4.0 SP6a)
I get a Dr Watson error that hoses any connectivity to that box. It also
takes down all other VNC connections that are open at the same time. I can
open the other connections but once I try to connect back to that box, i

I'm having an odd problem with the number pad and arrow keys.
It seems that I only have one *or* the other and I can't find
anything that will identify why. Also, whichever I do have,
the other emulates.

arrow key gives me the character 4, t

The encrypted root password as stored in /etc/shadow cannot easily be
converted back to its plain text. So it's not going to be simple to do this.
It might also make the system much less secure (eg someone could quickly
find the root passwd by gaining access to a backup tape containing
~root/.vnc/
The VNC port is 5900, 5800 is the mini webserver for the java client.
Are all 3 computerson the same network? Can you ping computer 1 from
the other two?

Hi,
I am new to VNC and I have been having a very simple problem really but not
able to get out of it. I am trying to connect 3 computers all Windows 2000
machines, and all running both VNC server and viewer.
Computer 1 is the problem. I can not view it from either of the other two
machines. All

If the computers are close you can run a line from the
output on one to the line in on the one you are using.

VNC will work happily over a VPN - read the FAQ.
Whether or not your DSL router will support a particular VPN

When XVNC is started with the "-inetd" parameter it closes the standard error
stream and tries to write log messages to a file in /usr/adm. This is not so
good, because XVNC should preferably be run as an unprivileged user and
normally only Root can write in the /usr tree. Besides, my Redhat sys
