Hi,
Perhaps I am not explaining my dilemma correctly. From the documentation
that I am reading, vncserver is starting Xvnc (a virtual X server) on a free
display. I am actually required to remotely manipulate whatever is going out
to the monitor, and I cannot find a way to map vnc to an

Hi
I am trying to connect to my home pcs which are behind an ADSL firewall
router using VNC and a browser.
I have mapped the internal IP addresses and ports of the PCs (eg
192.169.1.4:5800) to public port (1004) each pc getting a different public
port.

Michiel,
Given that you seem to be describing the server crashing, perhaps you should
try upgrading the server to VNC Server 4b4?

You've no luck. I've just tried "getting out", NIS2004 then popped up a
dialog to ask if I want to allow this. Once allowed, it works without any problem.

Hi,
I have done that, and after 5 days have not received a response. I have
also checked their knowledge base to no avail - it tells me what I already
know and have already done.
Thanks,

I'm sorry for the mixed message here -
the problem occurs on the machine running the viewer; I can't run the viewer

What options, if any, are there for VNC on Linux machines?

Honestly, why don't you call Symantec/Norton for help? Or check its knowledge
base on how to open ports for incoming requests, or allowing an application for
outcoming connection?

I need help regarding the full screen option, please
When I start VNC viewer in full screen mode it always pops up following
message window:
To exit from full screen mode use Ctrl-Esc and then right-click on the
vnc viewer taskbar

Michael,
The simplest solution is to upgrade to VNC Server 4 Beta 4. :) The
alternative is to use AllowProperties under VNC 3.3.7 - see the online docs
for further details.

Wait a moment!
What problem are you exactly having with NIS? In the machine where VNC server
is used? Or the machine VNC viewer is used?
Your second paragraph seems to imply the VNC viewer machine because from other
mails, you're using the words "get out".

Is there a way to only configure VNC once and not have to configure it for
