hello.
here is my wishlist/suggestions to vnc development team:
1)multithreaded design.
let's say user forks 1000x1000 display area.
it would be nice if it could be splited in i.e. four
500x500 tasks (best would be fork & pipe, but linux ptheads
(which would run on SMP system ) would be fine too
What is the cause of the screen updating in strips?
Also, is there a way to speed up the speed of the action to be performed? the
system seems to run slow if you do it through the viewer

I have VNC v4 running on a server that is on the back side of a Linksys.
Yes, it has forwarding on.
I have VNC v4 installed at work, and at home. From work, I put in the
IP and the authentication screen opens, I put in the password and the
screen opens, but remains black. Hmm, must be someth
Good afternoon,
I'm trying to seek information as to whether or not the libraries used for AES
on Enterprise VNC are FIPS 140-2 compliant. This is a product we would like to
use in a government facility, although given new LAN/WAN security guidelines,
we must use products that are certified (o
FWIW my company tightened up their firewall/proxy a while ago - I can
only do limited http/https (standard ports only) and limited ftp. I
cannot ping/tracert, do ssh over any port (80 included) etc etc.

Not exactly what you asked for, but here's a nice detailed howto on
tunneling VNC through SSL (that I still have to get round to testing):

I wonder if seperate consoles is on the list for vnc for windows.
Although this may be a huge task being that it doesnt seem too many
other companies do this either.
Maybe an enterprise only feature?

And if run with or without it, ALWAYS get the DOS-box!

Dmackay,
The error message "Connection timed out (10061)" does not exist.
Do you really mean "Connection time out (10060)", or "Connection refused

Did you choose to "Import VNC 3.3 settings" when you installed VNC 4?
Did you remove VNC 3 BEFORE installing VNC 4, or install it alongsid
John,
This is not quite true. VNC [Free Edition] 4 does not provide encrypted
sessions, but VNC Enterprise and Personal Editions do.

Steffen,
The current VNC releases require a standard TCP/IP connection between viewer
and server. You can of course "tunnel" the VNC connection through an
HTTP-proxy-aware tunnel to get through.
