If the contents of a window of an application running on the server computer
aren't "up to date" when you restore it from being minimized then it sounds
like there is something wrong with the application.

You have not told us which platform you are using
assuming Windows
ensure Windows firewall has port and/or application in the exception list
also ensure the Anti-virus software you use is not blocking it either
If additional firewall is used like comodo or zone alarm create the
appropriate rules

have the service started, but it tells me not accepting connections. I have
the firewall set to exceptions for VNC, but still nothing.
