I once uised Xvnc on solaris. Solaris requires non standard fonts, so
X applications on Xvnc causes font trouble. Check your font path
and add solaris specific fonts solves such problem.

Since display 0 is the local X server on the box
How did you defined 'vnc' service in '/etc/services'?
If your 'vnc' service was using port 5900, then Xvnc also
uses port 6000, which is the port of the normal X server.
Defined 'vnc' service with port 5950
ption, netstat shows 'owner' PID of the port.
And with Windows Task Manager, you can get owner process
(in name) of the port.

your XDM ? How is its configurations ? Recently, for
security reason, daemon's configuration become very restrictive.

It is well known solaris problem. Solaris uses non-standard fonts,

Usually, display number 0 (:0) is used by REAL X server, so vncserver
cannot use it. If your machine (server side) is not running real
X server, then you can assign display number 0 to Xvnc server.
Or, if you want to share REAL X server's display with VNC,
then try http://xf4vnc.sourceforge.n
