John, Here are the steps I take for installing vnc and setting password.
Install VNC and server
Restart computer
Set password, click apply and click ok. Verify I can shadow computer.
Install Service helper, reboot

I am using 3.3.3 R 9 and am having several problems. I install winvnc and
every time I restart the computer, I am prompted to enter the password. The
other problem is that I am unable to reboot a remote server due to not being
