Turns out I had 2 instances of VNC installed on my server machine. Not
sure whether I had accidentally done that or the IT people had put one
on (realVNC and tightVNC). They claimed they hadn't.
I suppose what might have happened is that somehow the startup order
changed, and so all of a sudd
try Re-Installation

Okay, for several months I've been using RealVNC to connect to my work
machine, through a VPN. It's been working fine.
Suddenly I can no longer authenticate. I start the VNC client, it comes
back with the password prompt, and then I get an "authentication failed"
message.
I don't have caps-l
